The list below allows you to select a colour from a restricted palette of "Basic Colour Terms" (BCTs) as defined by Berlin and Kay (1969). Select a colour then click on either the ""Occurrences" button, to view all database samples that use it, or on the "Exemplars" button to restrict the results to only those samples that feature in the Palaeography. Note that only in rare cases are colours other than the first six to be found in polychrome hieroglyphic inscriptions. The default choice is "All".
