Haremheb was “Royal scribe, Scribe of recruits”. His highly decorated tomb contained some polychrome inscriptions, two of which are the subject of colour reproductions (Brack and Brack 1980, pls.2 and.5a). There is also an extensive sign list in the same work (1980, 93-99). This provides an interesting comparison between the colours observed and the colours reproduced, that does not always exactly correspond. Green and blue are sometimes difficult to distinguish in the plates but M17 ! the flowering reed, as so often, provides a good visual clue. The stem is blue and the fronds are green, both in the sign list and in the plates. This enabled me to make a reasonable judgement when comparing this sign with others from the same plate.
